Announcement from the Board of Trustees of the Elizabeth Seton Women's Center
For the last sixteeen years it has been the privilege of the Elizabeth Seton Women's Center to serve the women of New York's upper west side and beyond with quality programs and a sacred, welcoming space. As times have changed and many new considerations presented themselves, the Board has prayerfully reached the decision that it is necessary to end our current operations as of October 31, 2012.
We thank you most sincerely, the women who have been the spirit and light that kept the ESWC going over these many years. We thank you for your support in its many forms. Thanks beyond measure to Sr. Arleen Ketchum, our founder and Karen O'Brien, Acting Director. May we all cherish our experiences of community and spiritual transformation.
We close with the words of our namesake and inspiration, Elizabeth Seton...
"Keep well to the grace of the moment...
do your best and leave the rest to God."

Our Mission
The Elizabeth Seton Women’s Center, rooted in the Christian tradition, is dedicated to women's spirituality and empowerment. We welcome ALL women as participants and facilitators of our programs regardless of religious belief, age, income, ethnic group or sexual orientation.
The Center promotes the holistic development of women so that their experience and gifts may be recognized and valued by themselves and others and so made available for the common good. We also foster the development of women’s voices in seeking justice in their lives and in the lives of others.
Since 1996, The Elizabeth Seton Women's Center has been a place of reflection, sharing, empowerment and growth for thousands of women from all walks of life and all faith journeys in the New York City area.
All of the programs the Center sponsors have a spiritual and holistic base or approach. These programs direct women to their own inner wisdom and strength, provide information, and involve women in discussion, sharing and developing possibilities for action. They also provide a way for women to network with one another and to form friendships and community.
The Center is a place where differences are honored, where there is reverence for the sacredness of every woman's journey and where connections are made that nourish and empower each woman to make choices and take actions that are in alignment with who they most deeply are.
